CHARACTER ANIMATION
WORKSHOP
Puppet-Based, Collaborative Character Animation.
Collaborative, in-person character animation and performance workshop where students are provided with live-action puppetry tools to learn animation mechanics such as weight, timing, anticipation, and the walk cycle. They explore the differences and similarities between movement for performance, video, and animation through hands-on experimentation with bunraku puppetry. This workshop is influenced by and adapted from the work of Stephen Mottram, historical automata, and the concept of persistence of vision.
